WHAT WE DO

From weekend hackathons to month-long ethical design challenges, we blend hands-on building with critical thinking.

Our signature events include hackathons where teams tackle real social problems, Ethics in Tech workshops, and collaborative projects with local nonprofits.

We also host speaker series featuring industry professionals, researchers, and activists who share insights on responsible innovation.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Stay tuned for our next hackathon, workshop sessions on algorithmic bias, and our monthly Tech & Society discussion circles. Follow our calendar for coding bootcamps, design thinking workshops, and guest lectures from leading voices in ethical technology.

ABOUT US

Tech & Ethics Club is a student-led community for builders, coders, designers, and engineers from all corners of tech — from computer science and robotics to AI, hardware, and beyond. We host hackathons and hands-on challenges that push members to not only build amazing things, but to think deeply about why they’re building them and who they're building for.

We believe technology isn't neutral — it shapes the world around us. That’s why our focus goes beyond code. We explore the ethical impact of innovation, challenge ourselves to design for equity, privacy, sustainability, and inclusion, and create space for interdisciplinary collaboration.

Whether you're a beginner or an expert, a roboticist or a web dev, this is a club where you can build, compete, and grow — all while asking the big questions about tech’s role in society.

OUR COMMITMENT TO ETHICAL TECHNOLOGY

Ethics isn't just a side conversation for us — it's at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every line of code, every design decision, and every technological innovation carries responsibility. That's why ethical considerations are woven into every workshop, hackathon, and project we undertake.

Our hackathons don't just ask "can we build this?" — they demand we ask "should we build this?" and "who benefits or gets harmed?" Every coding challenge includes prompts about accessibility, privacy, and social impact. Our workshops go beyond teaching technical skills to explore topics like algorithmic fairness, data ethics, surveillance capitalism, and the environmental cost of digital systems.

We examine real-world case studies where technology has caused harm — from biased hiring algorithms to exploitative gig economy platforms — not to discourage innovation, but to learn how we can do better. We practice inclusive design thinking, study the social implications of emerging technologies, and challenge each other to consider whose voices are missing from the development process.

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

Our commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful space where all members can contribute meaningfully. We outline our values around constructive dialogue, diverse perspectives, and maintaining a supportive environment for questioning and learning about complex ethical issues.
